I hope they can fix it. Did you do a second opinion before you decided to overhaul your tranny? I have also a problem in my transmission before, there is no 4th gear (OD) and what I did I go to BALTAC shop Auto trans surplus located near in banawe. They diagnosed my transmission and they found out that there is no problem in mechanical but in electronics of my tranny. They checked the computer box by replacing it with their spare but still same result no OD. Electrician make a bypass wire from speedometer to computer box then the result is okay the shifting is smooth and now can reached in 4th gear. I think the guy knows already the problem of my tranny it just make it long procedure to checked so that he can ask a good price. It cost me only 4.5K to solved my problem

April 1st, 2011 08:22 PM #722as of now, they said that they checked all the electrical connections. even replaced the comp box and TPS. still the same. as of this pm, bong told me that after some research. it seems that our trooper is using the wrong computer box. he ordered one. but it will still come next week. so i pulled out the trooper so we could use it for the weekend and i'll bring it back to the shop when the correct compubox arrives. hope it works this time. thanks for the info. i will consider bringing it to baltak if there is no change.

Yes, its better you bring it there. Considering they changed the TPS the comp box how much the cost?, you better contact weng 4711053/7312965/7119736 they have a spare computer box that they can test. The price of computer box is ranging to 12K-17K depending of the demand. That time they will give it to me for 8K but im lucky it was not faulty. They have a good electrical guy there to check the electronics of your tranny. They are honest to tell me that there are no problem in my tranny mechanically otherwise they will suggest to overhaul of replace a surplus tranny that will cost me 30K plus.Last edited by nap123; April 1st, 2011 at 09:11 PM.

April 17th, 2011 12:24 AM #726visited our trooper this pm. cuz the compu box arrived yesterday. according to bong. the tranny now shifts properly. but during his test drive. the tranny would not down shift when he floors the gas pedal. he suspects there is a problem with the stepdown part of the valve body. he got a surplus valve body from banawe and will install if on monday. hopefully, it will be ready by then cuz we plan to use the trooper for our long drive to bicol this holy week. keeping my fingers crossed:-)

April 18th, 2011 06:06 PM #727Hi guys! I have a relative in Baguio. He's looking for a durable and efficient vehicle with which he can bring more people and also do farm work. Now he's looking at the Bighorn and he's on a budget of more or less 300k. Is he looking at the right direction? Are Bighorns, unlike Subic Pajeros, typically worry-free? I don't usually here of problematic Bighorns like I do with Pajeros. What are there to look out for?

April 18th, 2011 06:46 PM #729That's the hard thing. I can't seem to find a local car that will fit his requirements and his budget at the same time. Are Bighorns that bad? It seems to me that Bighorns are less problematic than converted Pajeros. And since its been a long time since these Bighorns are imported, and the mere fact that they are still running, it should be that the owners have already repaired all the headaches that might have been plaguing them, right?

Maybe so. Ok, best compromised suggestion I could give is look for a well-converted (and maintained) Bighorn. Frankly, my friend owns a box-type Trooper (with 2.8L diesel engine) and in perfect shape!
Mahirap kasi makipagsapalaran sa isang converted na di mo alam background ng source and converted vehicle. If you can be guaranteed of this, then you're good.
A relative of mine in Canada had his Scion FR-S PPF'd and then had it ceramic coated. He says it's...
