Gaya ng sabi mo, ang selling point sa amin ay ang ganda ng leather seats ng Fortuner. Although it is quite expensive at P60K, I thought it was worth it.
I was so disappointed after I got my unit finding that the seat covers were not actually leather, well at least only the center part of the seat back and center of the seat itself, the rest is synthetic. We call it P.U., you guys call it "Leatherette".
I went back to Toyota and asked them why was my seat covered with (my estimate) 80% synthetic material and only 20% leather? I paid P60K for LEATHER seats. And not only that, the leather used was of poor grade. I was told "Ganyan talaga yan Sir, Leatherette." Even the leather used on the doors were of equally poor grade Leather.
I know this because I use leather and synthetic materials in my line of work and I can distinguish them and also know the quality. And the small pieces of leather on my Fortuner is the cheapest and probably the worst leather and should not be used for upholstery.
At 60 grand, i think this is a rip off. Others think under 10K for leatherette is already expensive, pano naman ang justification sa 60K? Maganda lang ang fitting ninyo and I commend you for that.
The best leather-covered-item in my Fortuner is only the Steering wheel.
The seats?
And I should also recommend that you redesign the seat back as the thick seam at the middle causes a lot of discomfort (just below your shoulders). Hindi ko alam kung bakit nilagyan ng ganitong klaseng seam (similar to seams found on Jeans inner leg) Double folded ito.
I love my car, but I hate the seat covers. Pwede ba mag refund? Im really thinking of replacing them with proper leather seats. Thats what I paid for in the first place.
I hope that you read this and would reply promptly. Email me if you need to. But I prefer that you reply here so everyone knows how professional you are.
If I dont get your reply, then I know what to expect from you and your company.

shockz: Wow, didn't know na hindi full leather ang seats ng Fortuner... Diba mga lumang Paj, Trooper etc full leather?
Anyway, in addition to this post, I suggest you go to their website and email them directly as well... Mabagal sumagot dito minsan, maybe they don't frequent the board that much.
As for the pricing, I honestly believe na di yan ang rate ng Kelseat to Toyota, yung dealer nalang pumatong ng malaki...
Good luck sa file ng complaint, 60K is extraordinarily overpriced for vinyl.

November 20th, 2005 12:53 PM #56Ya shockz, pls keep us posted, and if you email Kelseat if they could post here as well. I will be installing leather on the new ride I'll be getting (already ruled out Fortuner because of the compulsory leather and "suggested" Toyota financing).
Man, don't these companies believe in Karma?

November 29th, 2005 08:15 PM #58Shockz, any update from Kelseat? Or did you settle this privately? (that's ok). Am sure most of this is on Toyota...but not all. I would suggest to Kelseat to do something about this. Reputation is something that is extremely difficult to maintain but easy to ruin, and in almost any line of work it is the key to continued success.
I did get to to sit in a Fortuner, and I agree that not only is the leather poor quality, but the leatherette is the type you can buy in divisoria for 140 pesos per yard. Very disappointing indeed. (nice car though)

matingnan nga kung talagang leatherette...
pero why blame kelseat? after all you agreed to pay 60k for the supposedly leather seats. sana you inspected more closely.

saw a set of fortuner seats being upholstered by Boy Chincuanco with real leather. talagang maamoy mo yung leather. toyota balintawak ang nagpagawa sa kanya.
