March 30th, 2016 05:07 PM #43Reviving this thread... Duda ako pareho sa Seiring and Fronte. Parts are cheap and marked as original but seem to be replacements only. As I posted in the GS forum, supposedly OEM brake pads are dusting the rims like crazy, and the shock absorbers are way too stiff to be OEM.

Got PMS stuffs at goodgear earlier. Mukhang original naman. Nakasabay ko din couple of Hyundai dealerships purchasing plenty of non PMS part orders. CASA ka man bumili for peace of mind, baka galing din ng Goodgear parts.

actually pards yung oem brake pads ng starex malakas talaga sa brake dust. common complaint yan ng mga GS owners lalo na if HARI units. yung upgrade brake pads ang walang brake dust. nasa hyundai/kia box din siya but you have to specify na ayaw mo yung type na original. forgot na kung synthetic or what yung type na pinalit ko sa brake pads ng GS ko dati para mawala yung brake dust na everyday linis.

April 2nd, 2016 11:24 PM #47Kaya pala. HVX kasi ito bro. Maybe different ang parts from KDM and HARI units. Before magpalit kasi ng pads wala halos dust ito, ngayon paggarahe sa hapon parang itim na espasol sya hehe.
So I guess even the shocks of HARI units might be different from KDM.
Thanks yebo. Napalagay na ako. Another thing kasi nakaduda sa akin sobrang mura ng prices nila. Yung mga rack end and ball joints wala pang 1K/pc.

Yup, para kang dumadaan sa coal dust sa dami ng brake dust yung oem na pads. Nung bumili ako sa goodgear pinapili nila ako, oem or upgrade. Konti lang difference in price. I think for both front and rear pads wala pa 1k total. Then labor ng mechanic nila 800 lang front and back. After nun halos wala na brake dust. This was more than 4 years ago, 2 year old pa lang gs ko nun pero nagsawa na ako kakalinis. Someone posted in the gs gen4 thread of this pad available in goodgear so i went there.

Mahal ang original na hyundai brake pads. Look for "Genuine" Hyundai parts. Oem replacement means it will fit and normally affordable but performance sucks. There are performance replacements but ymmv.
I remember toyota corolla oem brake pads...medyo mura but they have so much brake dust after going downhill nakakatakot. Replacement was every 30k.

Yun ang sabi ko, genuine, OEM, original ginamit ko na lahat ng words to imply I want what was in the car originally. Lumalabas iba pala OEM ng KDM GS sa local GS. The pads I bought aren't that bad, noisy lang and madali maubos but braking I'd say 10-15% weaker than the original pads. Akala ko kasi for these guys what OEM, original and genuine mean are open to their interpretation.

Tiisin ko na lang siguro itong dust until maubos. What I'm thinking now is if I should replace the shocks kahit <10Tkm pa lang tinakbo, iba kasi talaga ride. I'd say 25% stiffer sa compression itong binigay sa akin. Thanks for the info, will try Goodgear next time.
3M Color Stable series are all above 50% TSER. RFID readable through the tint, stays good for...
