November 22nd, 2010 07:21 PM #13Actually, this is no longer the case ever since 2007. Meron na tinatawag na CSR (Certificate of Stock Reported) that the LTO makes along with other paperworks required for registration. Kaya kung 2010 ang declare ng Dealership/Importer sa Customs, when the taxes are paid, the Customs will then make a CP (Certificate of Payment), indicating the chassis no and year model, then pass it along to the LTO, indicating that the taxes we're paid and puwede na i-register. Kung 2010 ang year model that the Importer declared sa Customs in the CP, 2010 ang model ilalagay sa CSR. Kaya even if you buy it at Jan 2011. Yung year model ng car that will be indicated sa OR/CR ng LTO will still be 2010, kahit registered at 2011 ang date.
This applies to all importers, all manufacturers.

November 22nd, 2010 07:30 PM #15Our units are already 2011 as indicated by the chassis no.
The people at Sector 5 sa Customs know how to read Chassis No. We declare it as 2011 model, and they double check the chassis nos. Bawal dayain, kasi kung mali declare mo malaki ang penalty sa customs.
All car manufacturers have the same type of chassis no, Toyota lang ang naiiba. And both the LTO and Customs pala know how to read them and decipher the year model.
agree ako syo. battery dying will be the next owner's problem. kaso the only reason I'm buying...
