Im planning to get a Starex for 2003. I want to get feedbacks as to performance kung ok siya. Also, madali lang ba spare parts nito??
Ok din ba kung second hand ang kunin ko?? Please assist naman and thanks. . . . . :D

Parang Pajero din ang dala mo. Mas tahimik pa nga.

Spare parts pwede ang Mitsu kaya no problem. Early Starex's were notorious for premature rusting lalo na sa front fenders.

Try to get turbo-intercooler Millenium models at least.

turbo-intercooler 9-seater version. very comfy seats, coils on the rear axle and much lighter than the 11-seater.

ok yung engine ng CRDi na starex... pero mid-2002 lumabas ito.

sigurado maraming spare parts yung starex... dami na ring nagsilabasan na service centers specializing in starexes as well as official Hyundai service centers.

Would anyone know how much now are the new models now? How about the CRDi model? Any recommended place to check out the car on display?

We are also thinking of the Starex pero erpats still has his reservations about overall quality and reliability (much caused by the first gen ones). Our other choices are the Sedona, XUV and Super Grandia (pero we'll be stretching our budget for this).

    2insure, vinj,
Our Starexes (9 & 11 seaters) are 1st gens. The front fenders on both had to be repaired due to the premature rusting. Aside from that, no major repairs have had to be done to them. Power on the NA 2.6L diesel engines is lacking, but this should be solved with the 2.5L TDIC, or with the CRDi.

i'd suggest getting brand new starexes, so you don't encounter the rusting fenders, and that you'd be getting the more powerful engine. Together with these, you need not worry how the vehicle was maintained by its previous owner.

We've had our 9 seater Starex since '98, luckily no rust was found on its fender. :D Ganda na rin ng interior except for those fake wood finishes na talagang mukhang peke. Seats are comfy enough for long drives. Cool aircon too. The RV model have many seat configuraitons, pwede maging flat 2nd seats or rear faced. And to top it off, those headlights and driving lights really help at night, kahit na yung driving lights lang naka on parang headlights na ng ibang sasakyan!

One thing I didn't like about it is its engine, the first batch of NA 2.6 D4BB plant. Under-powered for a big van. :? Buti pa yung mga bago na intercooler engines, but still lacks the climbing power with full load. :P Other changes since then were brake pads (madali naupod tong sa amin), tires and shock absorbers (rough roads po ang byahe sa province).

With regards sa spare parts, madami na po locally distributed. They even sell taiwan made oil filters in banawe. One part that is hard to find is the throttle control cable naputol po kasi tong sa akin kakapihit. :P
