July 14th, 2019 12:00 AM #161hydrolocked!
bent or distorted metal parts galore!
if insurance won't fix it, bring it out and have an outside mechanic fix it, for much less, i am sure.
i remember some time ago,
it involved a local india model...water got into the engine, thru the allegedly improperly-located air intake..
...brio...?? dunno... can't locate the article anymore..Last edited by dr. d; July 14th, 2019 at 12:17 AM.

Trouble with outside option, doc, you'll still likely need inside parts-sourcing. Even when armed w/ a service manual & complete PN catalogue, access to em parts may be limited. In those cases, it's not uncommon for dealerships to just shoehorn a new engine in.

July 14th, 2019 07:17 AM #163You are absolutely right. However I did consider that for the most part I wouldn't just be on the expressway in completing the first 1,000 kms. Its been driven through city streets and stuck in tons of traffic and now it gets to stretch a bit. A good stretch of highway and provincial roads was the perfect setup. And even with cruise on I still did a lot of slowing down and speeding up. But that's me. I wouldn't break in your car like mine.

I'm also trying to understand how that could have happened considering it's a brand new vehicle.
Driver negligence narin? Iniwan sa bahang lugar, nakababad yung makina at muffler kaya pinasok ng tubig?
Lumusong sa malalim na baha habang pauwi?
May nagyayang mag offroad?
It would take something fairly negligent to cause hydrolock.

July 14th, 2019 10:22 AM #168it's a common problem with models new to the market. i had the same issue, when my then-near-new innova needed a part. casa was the only source.
the outside mechanic will probably source the parts from the casa, yes. but his labor charges will be considerably less than the casa's.
so, is the kona's engine a new model, or is it the same engine as some older models already in the market?
i hope the insurance will do it.
all TS has to show, is that the problem occurred in the course of ordinary driving, and not because he forded a river.
i remember reading a similar case somewhere. the car's engine hydrolocked because of water thrown into the allegedly ill-placed air intake inside the car's engine bay. i don't remember if it was strong rain, or it was water thrown up by other vehicles' wheels. but the report did say, there was no significant flood.Last edited by dr. d; July 14th, 2019 at 10:30 AM.

I've used Stainz Out and Stain Guard from Glaz (Microtex) but I noticed it made my windshield form...
