I agree. Hyundai vehicles are great, at least when compared to their direct competition. Like yebo, we've had a few different Hyundais -- 2 Gen 1 Starexes (1 LWB, 1 SWB), a Gen 3 SWB and the GS. Oh, and a Gen 1 Santa Fe. Only the Gen 3 SWB and GS actually had/have warranties, because the other units were gray market units. Nevertheless, the 2 Starexes performed well for at least 7 years. TLC required of course but that's a given. The Santa Fe was a headache when it began to break down since there were no parts available locally. Oh well. Can't win them all.
I'm not too sure if the gray market dealers are that much more accommodating as regards warranties, though. But they're selling definitely more feature-packed units so you get more bang for your buck.
Long story short, get the car if you like it. Unless, of course, it's a known lemon. Screw the 5 year warranty, just assume 2-3 max. Make sure to do regular pms, and it should be fine.

August 29th, 2012 10:48 AM #23The experiences of Hyundai owners when claiming warranty ranges from 30 days - 120 days waiting time for the parts. Say for a simple battery, it takes HARI to replace the battery under warranty at least a month. So they expect the owner to garage the car until the replacement battery arrives. For suspension parts, owners get to wait for more than a month before the parts arrive, and in the meantime, you have the option to garage the car or use it with broken suspension parts that may cause other parts to break down. The worst part is that the CASA or HARI will investigate and find an excuse where they will say the owner was remiss in taking care of the car and will have to void the warranty claim.
So you be the judge whether the HARI's 5 year warranty is a plus or just a marketing ploy to make it appear they are confident about Hyundai Cars to remove the stigma of inferior quality Korean cars versus Japanese cars.

August 29th, 2012 11:27 AM #25sir, with all due respect sa babaeng Presidente ng Hari, kaya nga sya ginawang Presidente para palakihin ang market share ng HYundai and palaguin ang kita ng HARI. IMHO, dahil sa 5 year warranty marketing ploy (plus the fact that Hyundai cars have improved tremendously for tha pst years) kaya tumaas ang benta ng Hyundai at dahil sa mark up ng HARI sa pyesa kaya lumalaki ang kita nila.
Dapat sa Hyundai Korea official ipakita ant ipaalam ang mga horror stories ng Hyundai Owners.

Most probably alam na yan ng president ng hari. Nagbubulagbulagan lang dahil maximum profit sa kanila yan. Now i can understand yung mga wait times nung mga rare parts like ecu etc.. But for a battery na aabutin ng 1 month waiting period? Kalokohan na yan. Sa Hari talaga ang may problem kasi pag mabilis ang release nila ng parts for warranty, there's no reason for dealers to delay.
