It would have been better if comparison is done on a similar engine displacement size (2.0 Gas vs 2.0 CRDi). More liters of oil pa rin ba consumption ng 2.0 Diesel than the 2.0 Gas? I assume they should consume same amount of engine oil. And how about the additional cost of sparkplug replacement of gas engine?

Take the case of Ford 2.2L or Mitsu 2.4L turbo Diesel engines, the difference in displacement against a 2.0L Mitsu gas engine is within 20%. The Diesel engines require around 6.5 to 7L while the gas engine only need 4.5L. So you need 2L more for the diesel.

Our previous 2001 Accord 2.3L required 4.5L of oil while our newer 2016 Jetta 1.6L TDI also requires 4.5L. However, turbo gas cars require more oil than an NA gas engine. Our FXT which has a 2.0L turbo gas engine requires around 5.25 to 5.5L of oil. Even surprising was our previous 2014 Fiesta Ecoboost 1.0L which needs 4.5L of oil.

Newer gas cars require longer periods of plugs replacement. Some do it around 60k km while some at 100k km. Unless of course, you suffered some kind of issue with your combustion settings that fouled your plugs earlier.

Sparkplugs for mine (2.0) are recommended to be changed every 7 years or 168k kms. Tsaka di naman kamahalan yun hehe. Sa oil naman, 4.5L din so mga 2.5L difference.

there was a time, when we cleaned and re-gapped our old sparking plugs, hanggang sa ma-ubos yung electrode, instead of replacing them as many do nowadays.
probably because plugs were relatively more expensive back in the day, compared to now.
