Hyundai's new Sub-4m sedan for India is more than a decent approach. #AutoEncore

There's no denying there's a growing market for, ironically, small cars. With such compact offerings now being a huge thing in the automotive industry, each automaker is striving to compete with new and much more exciting products that only benefits the car buying public.

Case in point: Huge SUVs are OUT, sub-compact SUVs are IN. Not only do they offer decent space and flood fording capability as larger SUVs but they even up the ante by making it more practical with exceptional fuel economy and city friendly footprint at bottom rung entry prices.

Hyundai's new Xcent sedan is the newest offering of the maker for the Sub-4m, which is a growing market in India. Based on the very successful 2nd generation i10 hatchback (which booked 51,000 sales after being launched late last year), Hyundai aims to steal sales from local maker Tata and Mahindra as well as Japanese market leaders Maruti-Suzuki Dzire (Swift) and Honda Brio Amaze.

Moving the Xcent is a pair of petrol and diesel engine mated to either a manual or automatic transmission. Hyundai proudly markets the Xcent as a tech and gadget leader entry in its class. With features that are exceptional beyond its class such as Smart Key with Push Start function, Rear AC vents, Rear Parking Camera and Sensors, 15" alloys, a 2DIN Audio with CD/USB and 1 GB built in memory, Electrochromic Mirrors, Auto Folding Wing Mirrors, Cooling Glove Box as well as host of safety equipment and a whole lot more, makes this car a worthy consideration in its class. Hyundai's new 'Modern-Premium' philosophy truly applies to this small sedan.

The naming is decided to carry on the legacy of the Accent brand while lending a trendy persona. Which with the credentials of it, we're pretty sure bigger brother, Accent wouldn't mind at all.

Would you like to see this small sedan on your shores?
