You're right the R diesel Tucson will edge the Gas CX-7 Turbo Petrol. But how about the up and coming CX-7 mated with the MZR 2.2 CD Turbo diesel engine which boasts of 300lb.ft (originally rated at 295) of torque. That's the correct point of comparison IMO.
To be objective here, the gas variant of the coming Tucson will pale in comparison with the gas 2.3 of the Mazda CX-7 but will be almost even with the 2.5 engine.Last edited by daimengrui; September 24th, 2009 at 01:53 PM.

Question is will the CX-7 diesel arrive here? Parang hindi mukang European model and so far Mazda has not introduced any diesel cars here except for the BT-50 which is just a Ford Ranger anyway. And syempre the gas CX-7 will trounce the gas Tucson kasi turbocharge na tapos 300cc advantage pa! Pero takaw gasolina sigurado ang CX-7...

sir tidus,
matakaw lang naman ng konti siguro sa fuel yung CX-7 considering 2.5L to at 2.0L yung gasoline version ng new Tucson. Pero sa hp rating, talo talaga CX-7.
Eto data:
<2010 Tucson>
2.0L gasoline Theta-II
166 hp
11.7L/km(combined???, ???)
<2010 CX-7>
2.5L gasoline
161 hp
9.7 km per liter(combined, US EPA)
Teka, nagiging Tucson vs CX-7 na yung thread na to a! Sorry O.T.

I was referring to the turbocharged version of the CX-7 pero kung regular gasoline engine lang yes lamang Tucson even with a smaller displacement. More points for Hyundai for a good research team making powerful engines at lower displacements without sacrificing fuel efficiency in the process...

September 26th, 2009 10:21 AM #46may news na ba kung lalabas nga this year ang tucson ix?
normally kng nag-uubos na kasi ng older model in preparation for the new model eh nagbababa ng presyo yng older model. Pero parang wala namang urgency mag-ubos nung current model so baka di pa lalabas?

Looks like the new model correct my vision if not accurate, is not that spacious as compared to the old one but convincingly attractive though.
