    from Inside Line:
TOKYO NEWS: Honda Previews Next Acura TSX in Sports 4 Concept
    Date Posted 10-20-2005

TOKYO — Visitors to the international auto show here are getting a sneak preview of the next-generation Honda Accord for Japan and Europe — and the next Acura TSX for North America.

The Honda Sports 4 concept sedan now is described by company insiders as an accurate precursor of the redesigned Accord. The new Accord will go into production in mid-2007 in Japan and will be sold in Europe and China. North American customers, however, will get a different design about the same time to replace the Ohio-built Accord.

Honda sources told Inside Line the Sports 4 also foretells the next-generation Acura TSX, which will be based once again on the European Accord and is expected in U.S. dealerships in spring 2008.

    Honda Announces Next-Generation Powertrain
Fuel-Efficiency Targets for Motorcycles, Automobiles, and Power Products

TOKYO, Japan, July 20, 2005– Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has released an overview of its major next-generation power train technology and fuel economy targets for motorcycles, automobiles, and power products due to be introduced within the 9th Mid-term Plan (April 2005 to March 2008).

    < Automobiles >
Thanks to the introduction of light, compact, powerful engines such as the i-VTEC and i-DSI, average fuel-efficiency for Honda passenger cars in Japan in 2004, represented an improvement of 30.9% over 1995 figures.

Going forward, Honda will introduce a more advanced version of its existing VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control System) technology with an engine that offers more sophisticated and precise control and continuously variable control of valve timing and lift. With this innovative control, fuel economy will be increased by 13% compared to the level of 2005. In addition, by increasing flexibility in the number of cylinders that are cut off and further advancing variable valve systems, Honda aims to improve the fuel efficiency of its VCM system by 11% compared to the level of 2005.

hehe. 'substancial' type. pero usually pag production stage na, medyo nagiging conservative ang kinakalabasan. ganun siguro ang magiging 'in' in the near future. but if we take a close look into them, halos pareho ang likod ng 'next accord' at 'next lancer?'
