pero one thing, thermostat should not be removed. pag sira, palitan, wag alisin. regulator mo yan eh. pag wala yan, posible mali ang temperature reading na nakukuha mo.

so the main reason kaya tinanggal niya yung thermostat is maybe nagooverheat kasi?

nothing wrong with no thermostat specially in phil. i dont think it will get that cold like here in california or colder part of the US. i think main problem in phil is running full water not running 50/50 coolant, people should remember running full water will promote rust and lower boiling point. i always suggest redline water wetter vs coolant but if you can find water wetter coolant is better than full on water.

i may investigate the possibility of removing the thermostat sa civic ko ngayon and then using a timed switch mechanism to control the radiatior fan. that, or the aircon thermostat switch na ginagamit pag kino-convert yung aircon to automatic. i'm sure it can also control a fan.

from the dash, i can then select low, normal, high to control fan activation. pag low setting, maybe 1 activation every 2 minutes, and so on and so forth... selecting high will of course trigger full time fan operation.

matanda na kasi yung engine, at mapapadalas na magluko yung thrmostat at thermoswitch (its what turns on the fan. its a sensor). 700 yung thermostat, at 1200 yung thermoswitch sa casa. the problem is that these components become less reliable when the other parts like radiator, fans start breaking down one at a time.

at dito rin kasi normal operating temp is reached faster than in the temperate countries due to high ambient air temp (even if cold season dito). the engine cooling system will pressurise din naman even without thermostat, and i can do away with the thermoswitch.

    what do you guys think?

    Another thermostat debate?

The only time removing the thermostat becomes a solution is when it gets stuck in the closed position. Contrary to popular belief, the thermostat increases the cooling system's efficiency aside from getting the engine up to operating temperature faster and keeping it there. So the whole argument that we don't need it because we're in a warm country is purely fiction.
