Just do your maintenance regularly your honda will LOVE you forever. I am a honda owner, a driver.

forcedspeed (fixstop), kalayaan ave qc can service your car well, reasonable prices. they service a lot of hondas there. actually, puro honda sila dun, hehe.
kahit anong kotse naman pag napabayaan nagiging madalas mag overheat. if this is your 2nd car, then you already know the usual maintenance items sa kotse and their schedules: timing belt, radiator, etc etc
another tip... sa honda ka na lang magpa changeoil. mura lang yung promo nila may 30 point checkup pa hehe. tas tago mo mga recivo pag ibebenta mo na pwede mo pa ipakita kamo "casa Maintained"
99 civic LXi has been pretty well covered before, please do a search, use Lxi as your search parameter, madami ka makikita.

Congrats on your purchase...Honda Civic Lxi's are very durable and ideal for everyday drives...Hondas are good quality cars so just be diligent about the maintenance and you would go a long way with your ride.
As for the overheat question , that's not true, not unless the car has already a history of overheating.
