Does the full synthetic really work for the fuel savings? On our Dec '05 CRV Honda put fully synthetic. But for the Fortuner, I rather use the mineral oil bec. I will be changing oil every 3 months regardless of its mileage (which is very low, 1,277kms so far).
Btw, what is the 95 RON from caltex called? Is that the vortex?

it helped. but niky has an explanation about it, its somewhere here in tsikot. yes, its the vortex gold. gusto ko sana itry yung sa shell yung 97+ RON, mukhang ok. And also, based on my observation, mas mainit yung engine sa fully kaysa sa semi. and also, when we use the vortex gold and nagpalit kami ng oil, lumakas yung hatak ng CRV.

RE: the explanation: Fully synthetic works because you can use thinner oil, which reduces friction, but: the high cost of the oil more than offsets any fuel savings.
It's good for your engine, though, so many people use it anyway.

same lang ba yung vortex gold sa techron gold? I also use higher fuel octane and fully synthetic oil from honda, mas maganda nga hatak ng makina. is there a 97RON in shell? ser carlo, try mo Vpower parang walang difference sa blaze although blaze has higher octane which is 96RON. Vpower has 95RON. I get 7-8km/L city from 5-6km/L when I use synthetic oil and higher octance fuel.

October 23rd, 2006 05:38 PM #46I own a 02 crv A/T 2nd gen and consumption ko dati is 4.5 to 6 kms per liter.. nagpalit ako ng simota filter cone type... tpos naging 7-9 kms per liter ako...
tipid driving na effective sa akin kapag max 2000 rpm ka lang.. try nyo rin adjust ung throtle cable.. kaya sluggish minsan kasi nde nakahatak ng mabuti ung throtle cable.. gawin nyong sakto para responsive yung makina. i bypassed the hot water flowing in the crv's throtle... umiinit lang lalo ang hangin e hindi naman natin kelangn kasi wala naman tayong snow.

Anyone know the actual fuel capacity of the CR-V (2nd gen)? The manual says 58 liters..Looks like it's only 55 liters? Maybe even 50? Anyone?
