Oh okay. The previous owner might have used gel-type air fresheners however.
The idle speed is going up precisely because the compressor is trying to do its job. However it cannot provide any cooling due to the dirt in the lines, so it's trying to work as hard as it can - taking the engine along with it. Remember that the compressor is basically driven by a belt off the engine crankshaft.
Try to get it cleaned ASAP and see what happens. I used to recommend A/C cleaning every year, but I've tried skipping out this time. So far so good, after 1-1/2 years, but I recommend having it cleaned before summer hits (for obvious reasons)

February 12th, 2010 04:42 PM #13Hello Guys,
These are the possibilities when your aircon is intermittently working:
1) Cooling fan on the condenser faulty... replace or change carbon brush
2) Compressor electro magnetic clutch faulty - replace or rewind
3) expansion valve clogged - replace valve, change filter drier
4) compressor relay faulty - this happens when the compartment is hot and the relay coil fails
5) Thermo sensor faulty - this happen when your sensor probe fails and cant give feed back to the system controller the right temperature
6) system under charge - if your system is under charge (or over charge) it will cause icing on the evaporator, causing inaccurate reading
7) regularly clean your aircon system...
happy motoring

Brought my car to the honda shop this morning for check-up of the AC. For the meantime, they just cleaned the electro magnetic clutch since its already dirty. Cooling is okay pa naman, so wala mo na binaklas...observed lang daw muna...after clean-up. Aux fan are normally operating....

TIA

sir, saan ba naka position yung FRESH AIR/ RE-CIRCULATION LEVER ng A/C mo? Dapat sa RECIRCULATION naka set if your on city driving.
Safe ba sa emblems yung bug and tar na made from HCl? Yun kasi yung kinuha ko. For my polishing set...
