the car manufacturers installed mufflers for a reason. if you change it to a "better" performing muffler, the noise gets louder. this in a way limits your use of your car in some places like around hospitals, schools, courts of law, villages and where people are in mourning and probably saying rosary for the dear departed or some parents trying to make their sick infant to sleep. picture yourself in their shoes. it is okay if you are the only one who can hear this unnecessary noise pollution but some people, some place and some time needs peace and quiet and the people are enjoying it

I read somewhere that chambered muff are best for low displacement vehicles (e.g. 1.3), tapos yung free flow for higher displacement ones (1.8 and up). Is this true?

Nope. Whatever your displacement, what muffler works best depends on the rest of the set-up.
A full-free-flow set-up will always make the most power AS LONG AS the pipes are properly sized. But on a street set-up compromised by catalytic converters and often sub-optimal pipe sizes and headers, a good chambered muffler can approach the power levels of a straight-through one... or even exceed it if the exhaust piping is too big for the engine.
