Since you are in Honda Cars talk, 96 to 98 Civic Vti, a Honda City type Z 2000 to 2002. Depends on the condition of the unit, just have a trusted mechanic to check the vehicle of your choice. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

I'd recommend a 1999 SX8 City or a 2000 SX8 City Type Z - it's pretty much the perfect first car IMO. Quick, comfy, fuel-efficient, easy to see out of and park, and it's got a nice driving position despite the smallish seats. The springy clutch is a bit tricky to learn at first though.
If you're a plus-size person, you can trade up to an older but bigger 1998-2000 EK Civic.
That said, I'm 5'8" and of medium build but I fit inside the City quite well.

December 23rd, 2009 01:21 PM #9exalta's are a bit expensive to maintain for 1st time owners, and is less reliable that other models of its class. the lancer though is a good suggestion. my only problem with mitsu petrol engines is the damn idler control unit that breaks down easily.
you decide on what you want in the end. for a 1st car, i would go for ease of maintenance, reliable and frugal. toyota corolla gives all that.
honda gives the same but would always command a higher price compared with a toyota of the same variant trim and year model.
