I read from autodeal about the Honda Accord 2020 and it also uses the 1.5T engine but just uprated to 187HP and 260Nm at 1600rpm. I'm assuming they have the CVT transmission if that's case. While in the US, it's the 2.0T engine same with the Type R but just de-tuned.

I'm curious because maybe in a few years time, I might try KTuner or re-map for my RS Turbo... 40% Yes and 60% No.. because the CVT might die sooner because of new torque figures...
You can tune a CVT-equipped turbocharged car but only up to the torque limits of its CVT tranny. There is a reason why Forester SJ-XT, WRX CVT, and Levorg 2.0 couldn’t be tuned way over 300hp/400Nm. The CVT tranny used on such vehicles is rated only at 400Nm. On stock tune, it is already 350Nm so it can only take a small upgrade tune.

If you go beyond the torque limits of the CVT tranny, there is a likelihood it will break and you have no choice but to replace it.

The Accord 1.5T and CRV 1.5T both use the same engine as the Civic RS 1.5T. However, the tune on the Accord and CRV has more power and torque. The Accord 2.0T may have a similar engine base as the Civic TypeR (K20) but the turbos used are different. Also, the Accord 2.0T uses either a 10-speed AT tranny or a six-speed MT, but not a CVT.

Some folks from facebook groups said that Foresters built from below 2017s have more durable CVTs?

Anyway, I have been searching around google and fb. Some have tuned their 1.5T civics up to 250 to 260 Nm versus the stock 220Nm at 1700rpm. Mukang yan ang limit nila(hopefully safe?)

The Forester SJ (2013-2018) and Forester SK (2019-present) are the only Foresters equipped with CVT. The SJ XT model uses a high-torque CVT which is different from the one used on the non turbo models. The same high torque CVT is used on the WRX CVT, Levorg, Legacy 3.6, Outback, and Ascent.

I guess an upgrade from 170hp/220Nm to something around 190hp/260Nm would be more than welcome.

I actually considered yung FXT before opting the Civic 1.5T. Di lang ako confident sa maintenance ng Subarus and mas mahal parts pag may need palitan or masira...

    190hp / 260Nm looks perfect to me

Marami na Subaru sa local market. Maintenance cost is no different to a Honda or Ford. It’s the usual engine oil, filters, brake fluid, coolant, CVT fluid, brake pads, tires, etc. Extra cost lang yung differential fluid which is required for all AWD vehicles. Mas mahal pa maintenance ng VW diesels.

We have a Mitsubishi, Subaru, Honda, and VW at home. All such vehicles are 2016 or newer. All are proven reliable and no major issues.

Common problem with Subarus are AC compressors conking out

We have an 09 on its 3rd compressor and it only has 80K mileage. Many others in the FB group complain about it.

    Otherwise its rock solid

I would only own a Subaru if I lived in NCR or other urban places. Specialists are very few. There are probably more Merc/BMW specialists.

A Honda would be easier to maintain, probably a bit cheaper too.

i thought they were "generic" compressors, differing only in the external mounting design...
does subaru also have different internals in their compressors?

Very specific mount point sa ibabaw ng boxer engine. Built-in brackets sa compressor. 50k pesos para ma replace.

No idea, but I believe they are made by Denso.

Denso Coolmate is the usual recommendation from the Subaru FB group.
