Different market segments, actually. BTW in the 2nd generation there was even a 10-seater version for the CR-V (problem was the absence of a diesel engine option)...

hmm.. I think not! okay nmn! as matter of fact, the 2012 looks okay and a bit more elegant to look. (but if that's your opinion, wala na ako magagawa!) I actually like the looks of the 07 Honda CRV we had before!

I still have my 2008 CR-V 2.4L 4WD. That's the best design of CR-V for me. But this 2012 model, worst designed CR-V.

It was only made a ten seater to take advantage of a tax loophole that granted tax exemption to ten seat five-door vehicles used as taxis... an exemption granted whether they were used as taxis or not. (much like the US gas guzzler exemption for "working" SUVs like the Lincoln Navigator and the Cadillac Escalade)

Honda saw the loophole, stuffed a third row good only for armless children, stiffened the rear springs beyond belief to accomodate the weight of the extra passengers, and sold the CR-V at the same price as the ancient ladder-frame Toyota Kijang/Revo. They were godawful to ride, but you were getting a high quality modern SUV for killer prices. Buying softer springs and chucking the third row was much cheaper than paying the ridiculous tax difference for a five seat CR-V.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

taxation targeting quality over high occupancy? it doesn't make any sense. what about taxing the lemons instead? no, it will not solve the issue in traffic because of high popluation in urban areas. this is only acceptable if there's a sufficient and reliable mass transportation such as singapore's.

It looks actually like a 7-seater, such as the Opel Zafira. But people do everything to get rid of some taxes...

Based on the Japanese website, We will probably get two variants:

2.0 R20A CVT? - we will probably get the regular automatic trans., just like in the case of the 2011 Jazz.

    2.4 K24A 5AT 4WD

If you were to believe the posted fuel consumption rates, there is around 2.8~3.x kms/li difference bet. the two engines (CVT influence is inclusive on those figures.)
