The new City platform will debut next month in Thailand and it might reach our shores next year. It will be powered by Honda's 3-cylinder turbo engine rated at 120hp/200Nm. The Jazz will surely share the same engine.

Nice. Hope the jazz is offered with a manual and has warm hatch performance.

Small displacement turbo engines can boast of such FC figures but these are not real-world figures. In the case of the Fiesta 1.0L Ecoboost, highway FC at an average cruise of 80-90 kmh can net you around 18 to 20 km/L and averaging 100-120 can get you 15 km/L. On normal Metro Manila traffic, it is around 8 km/L on average.

It depends really on the rpm upon which the turbo spools and the duration of the turbo lag. A small 1.0L engine usually idles around 900 to 1k rpm. For the Fiesta, turbo spool is at 1700-1800 rpm but when the engine is not properly warmed, turbo lag happens and you can feel the turbo kicking in at 2200-2500 rpm. The best tip is to allow the engine to stay between idle and turbo spool rpm range. Doing rapid changes in rpm and having to let the engine spool and then get back to just over idle rpm is not helpful in fuel efficiency.

Isn't it still up in the air if honda ph will actually bring the 1.0l turbo engine as the 1.5l is still an engine option in thailand (for base model i think)?

We'd just have to wait for confirmation or an official announcement.
