For some buyers, it's the powerplant that matters. A good number of 8th gen and 9th gen Accords on the streets have the bigger 3.5L V6 engine. This speaks a lot about the choice of such buyers. I am sure these same folks would want the 2.0T model instead of the 1.5T model.

The 8th Gen V6 had good sales numbers but it was on a downward trend specially on the 9th gen, same with the Camry.
V6 probably accounts for only 15% of their sales.
We had the 8th Gen V6 then replaced it with the 4-cylinder 9th Gen, the V6 didn't make sense with our traffic and road
conditions. The 2.4 is more than enough and fuel efficiency is quite good.

The best thing would be when HondaPH decides to put on sale the 9th gen models.
For a hefty discount, a 9th gen 2.4L for around the same price as a Civic RS or the 3.5L V6 for 1.8M is very a good deal. They offered 400k to 500k discount on the 8th gen when the 9th gen models became available.

Forgot to mention Honda's new corporate face looks nice.
however, seeing it in the new brio is a little uhm, off putting?
Would have been nice if we first saw it on their flagship models rather than entry-level models.

Real life sales figures show otherwise. I asked my ninong before (GM of a Toyota dealership) why they didn't bring in a V6 Camry, answer is not many people look for it anyway. Same with Honda, same answer when I asked the GM of several Honda dealerships why they didn't bring in the 160hp CRV or the 2.0 Accord - people don't buy power. Most buyers of TOTL models buy for the sake of having a TOTL and the most toys rather than because of horsepower.
Same case with the FXT. Reality is that power-seekers are a niche market, and even those who seek power will most often not give up fuel cost for it - hence you see lots of people chipping their diesel PPVs rather than going for FXTs.
If more people bought high-horsepower cars rather than just praise them in forums and social media, then we'd have more options.
No different from those people who clamor for TOTL MTs - when they were present before (Civic FD 2.0 MT, Lancer EX GT) noone bought them so they got discontinued.
