March 21st, 2008 01:39 PM #16yup, its the files that they are getting from the motorists that makes them oppose this new scheme. Malaki ang income nila dito e, ang problema lang e hindi nila namo monitor ang mga traffic aides nila, madaming buwayang naglipana(makati is no exception).

iba lang talaga yung mga utak ng mga mayor na ayaw ng single ticketing system... puro pera lang gusto and walang unity for the common juan. its sad to say pero ganyan talaga politics sa pinas.
nakakahiya man, wala naman tumatakbong matino and honest politicians. kung meron man laging nagagawan ng paraan para hindi manalo.
tsk tsk tsk...

have you seen the thread about bayani's big posters at edsa? that will explain a lot why some mayors oppose the single ticketing scheme.
1, it will shift the revenues from the local governments to the mmda, and thus give more funds for bayani's mmda to pursue his malacanang dreams.
2, some of these mayors are aspiring for the presidency too, like binay and belmonte. do you think they will readily give their prospective rivals an advantage, c'mon!
3, politics aside, all local governments would if possible keep all their revenues. if it is at all possible not to remit taxes to the national government they would do that, too. more money means more everything. and you know the implications of that di ba.

That's precisely the source of conflict eh. MMDA has no legislative and police powers. Add the fact that the Local Government Code is still in effect. The problem lies in this Admins bending of the interpretation of " the rule of law " . They bend it all the time to suit their needs and agendas. I wouldnt want to go into that since that woud be a big OT lol.
Revenue and politics aside, prinsipyo din involved dito. ..
