In the end, we left the station with 400+ worth of fuel free!

Astig! Wife + GF, kelangan nga talaga yun P400 ;) hehehe! j/k!
So far, I haven't encountered gas boys who are this "negligent" or should i say "wais". Most I've had to pay for top ups were P0.25, coz full tank lang nung una ang hiningi ko, tapos pinadagdagan ko pa after 1 automatic click. Nung medyo ayaw pang tumigil, pinahinto ko na at a rounded value. Mejo mabagal lang yung reaction time nung gas boy ;)
Personally, it's ok when they ask me kung full tank. What I don't like is if they ask me kung may resibo. Tinatamad lang ba sila gumawa nito? Or are they in cahoots with the station's management not to issue receipts?

A friend who makes the POS software of the gas stations told me that those unscrupulous gasoline boys left in droves when their gas stations became computerized. No more skimming and fooling around kasi huli kaagad. Those pumps are computerized also, so everything automatically goes to the server. Also, diba those new type digital pumps, you can just key in your desired amount of gas, say 500 pesos, and its automatically stops when it gets to that amount? This is one reason why I pick stations with newer pumps para minimized ang kalokohan (if there is any).
