September 17th, 2009 06:05 PM #1Last night, wednesday, Sept 16, there was a huge traffic jam ( i got stuck between banawe and a bonifacio, less than a kilometer of distance, for over 2 hours ) There was sudden rain downpour and the traffic enforcers disappeared completely.
Obviously compounding the situation is too many stop lights in that short stretch of road. Thus, from corner Quezon Avenue, there is a new stop light at ( iam not sure if this is retiro st ) caltex corner just few meters from old stoplight at corner Delmonte then another new stoplight at corner going to Kaingin road, also just a few meters from old stop light at corner Banawe.
whoever is the BIG IDIOT that came up with the idea to put up the new stoplights should be shot at Luneta because it is now the cause of daily heavy traffic in that stretch of road as the heavy flow of vehicles easily get caught in middle of street when signals turn red. So C3 which was once a quick route to escape the bumper to bumper at EDSA going to Monumento or NLEX is now a bottleneck as well.
And the worse of it all is that left turn and right turn is allowed on these stoplight crossings to accommodate maybe 2 or 3 cars making that turn as against the heavy volume going straight toward corner A Bonifacio.
which makes one really wonder -
1. where are the police traffic enforcers
2. where are the mmda traffic enforcers
3. where are the barangay traffic enforcers
4. why quezon city doesnt seem to have its own traffic unit like Makati MAPA, Pasig Traffic unit , Kalookan Traffic unit etc.
With a gargantuan budget and a big area to govern, quezon city government must have its hands full barely coping with the traffic and collecting parking fees at city hall compound which by the way used to be free parking area but now reserved to the privileged city hall officials and employees while qc taxpayers and guests must shell out cash for parking.

September 17th, 2009 06:53 PM #4More often than not, the reason behind an illogically placed traffic light is some idiot out there who caused an accident at said spot.
Automatic response to prevent accidents? Install a traffic light! Never mind the fact that it slows down the already crawling rate of traffic in the area.

actually makatulong yung new stop lites sa araneta-retiro and araneta-side street papasok ng grace school. kasi nung wala pang stop light dyan kanya kanyang singit lalong nag kaka trapik lalo na pag may pasok ang grace. too many cars going in and out to grace tapos kahit puno na di magbibigyan.

I agree that the stoplight at Sgt. Rivera cor. Sto. Domingo (going inside Grace) is a big help. Pero yung Araneta cor. Retiro (its now known as Amoranto) medyo di na kailangan to be honest...
