old cars with newer plates can be attributed to a lot of reasons:

1. if the car had a change engine, change color, and some other changes, the owner can request for a change in plate number.

2. a carnapped vehicle, if recovered, can apply for a change plate so that it will no longer be included on those are ALARMED by LTO, PNP etc. and safer so carnappers cannot identify the same vehicle.

3. dropped vehicles, usually taxis whose franchise had expired can apply for a new plate.

4. bidded government and diplomatic vehicles are entitled to new plates.

We used to own an old car with a relatively new plate... It falls into item2 of what bro. sarsi has enumerated.....

My friend (who isn't that knowledgeable in cars) saw an ad for a pre-owned Z3 with less than 20K in mileage and owned for just under a year. My first question was "Aren't Z3s last built in 2001 or 2002?" I even thought it was a typo and must have been a Z4.

Anyway, my friend met with the seller and it turned out that it was brought in from Cagayan, but somehow managed to be registered in Manila. It was a 1998 model I believe.

And no, he didn't buy the car. Good for him, hehe.

May nakita naman ako Gen 1.5 na vios with ZAC *** kasi afaik ung mga Unang Gen 1.5 is ZCA na ang Umpisa...

May nakasunod akong Toyota Corolla Lovelife with plate number ZAG 697. I don't know if this is this vehicle's plate number is valid. I texted at 2600 and it came out that this plate number is for a Toyota Corolla 1.3 2005 model. Color Quick Silver. Tama naman ang make at color.

Question: may lovelife model pa ba na nilabas nung 2005? Or possible na kakaregistro lang nito (old stock?) ? Mga Altis na ata ang mga corolla during those times at sa pag kaka alam ko, walang 1.3 liter na model. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I took a picture but I'm hesitant to post it here kasi baka naman legal at valid yung plate niya. Kung tsikoteer man may ari nito, i just want to be clarified and I'm not directly implying that your vehicle is questionable. TIA

Possibly an ex taxi. Lovelife corolla is the last corolla with a 1.3 carburetor engine. Also, iba pa nun ang Corolla at Altis. Yun ang pagkakatanda ko. After nito, nilipat na ang 1.3 VVTi engine sa Vios.
