January 2nd, 2009 09:00 PM #11i can relate, nearly got run out of the road while driving 60 kph in edsa. i was using a blue plate pajero. the escorts were weaving in and out of 3 lanes, i was already at the side coz i was gonna turn to the road going to white plains. the motorcycles and the unplated excorts nearly hit me, the way they're weaving is so wild plus the people inside are showing off their armalite rifles. Those people will never get my respect.

A DOJ senior prosecutor I had a few drinks with recently gave an
interesting explanation why public officials use sirens, blinkers, and
motorcycle escorts.
By warning motorists of their approach, they hope to avoid ugly
confrontations with the motoring public by the latter being made
aware of their presence thus taking the initiative
to "step aside" and let them pass.
Because if these officials drive icognito (without the sirens and blinkers)
and meron sasakyan na gumitgit or inipit sila, they will have no choice daw
but to go after the erring driver and beat his brains out!
In other words, pang "iwas-gulo" lang ang sirens and blinkers" at hindi
daw dapat ika-inis ng publiko!
The DOJ guy was quite serious when he said this and just goes to show you
how arrogant our public officials have become!
Although may sense din naman kahit papano.

It's better to let this convoys pass you, as the time and effort to argue with them are so futile in this land we live in.... at lest you are safe....
Happy driving in new year....

bro i admire you for having the balls to do that. allergic din ako sa mga convoys. di din ako nagbibigay dati sa mga ganyan. pero napaisip ako kung banggain nila ko, tadyakan auto ko gulpihin ako, anong magagawa ng mere mortals like me? kaya i just let them pass.

the question i need to ask is, if those a-holes really need security escorts because there are death threats to them, then why are they still alive? i mean, totohanin na yang death threats na yan ano, ratratin na sana mga walanghiyang number 8 plates na yan bwiset!

January 3rd, 2009 03:36 PM #17Now that "communion" thing really made me think again...
Safety first...
Believe me, as much as possible, I stay out of harms way. My only grievance is that the escorts don't think the same as I do. They get in harms way intentionally. I won't list the probable reasons why they do such, but the simple premise of "safety" became the last thing on his mind when he did that stunt. I wouldn't care much about escorted vehicles if the passengers are truly in "danger" so they need to get indoors as quickly as possible. But they really shouldn't endanger the lives and property of other motorists just to achieve their ends. I'm not stupid to ignore their presence, and he was way off line when he tried to make me brake hard when he knew that I was on the move but still attempted to cross. Their passengers are safe, but how about everyone else? Are everyone else safe from them?
And I haven't said anything yet about impatient convoys.

nice. what i don't get is why the "common man" would allow himself to get beaten up. i seriously doubt that in a fair fight these short-ass, middle-aged, tadpole-bellied politicians could really beat up anyone over the age of 13.
by allowing yourself to be intimidated by bullies, you only perpetuate the problem. i bet that if someone stood up to these idiots they would shrink away with their tails between their legs.

Because in a place where the rules are not applied, anybody who has power and money can ruin your life. But when it comes to mano mano, I'm sure there's a good chance of giving them a piece of our minds.
But then again, you have to ask yourself, are you really being truly and specifically intimidated and bullied, or do you just feel that way because you don't know when to yield?
That's why people migrate to greener pastures so we can get away from these. You're living in the US din di ba?
