MMDA to throw wet rags at jaywalkers next week

Hindi ko lang alam kung ang MMDA ba o ang PEDESTRIANS ang dapat mabilang sa Goon Squad.... :confused:

The Metro Manila Development Authority will start its "wet rag" scheme against jaywalkers in cities next week, MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando said Tuesday.

Fernando said the MMDA personnel on board eight vehicles will be deployed in Metro Manila to target undisciplined pedestrians and commuters violating the anti-jaywalking rule.

He said the wet rags will be thrown at violators.

Fernando said the new scheme is meant to teach commuters to use the sidewalk and wait for their rides at designated zones.

He added that the new scheme does not need the approval of the MMDA council and the Metro Manila mayors.

He added that the scheme does not violate human rights.

Meanwhile, Fernando said the MMDA will coordinate with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board for its campaign against colorum buses and abusive drivers.

not in favor of this.

nagcocommute din ako during coding day. Sa Baclaran, di ko malaman kung saan tamang sakayan ng jeep. Pagdating naman sa taft, di ko naman malaman kung saan dapat bumaba. Puro kasi bakod na yung sidewalks. Pag binasa nla ko nang tubig babasain ko sila ng asido

I think its a violation of human rights because it make the offender suffer an indignity. The MMDA should APPREHEND and IMPOSE FINES instead.

Hit them where it hurts more...the pocket.

According to some Metro Manila mayors, they will arrest those MMDA personnel caught throwing wet rags at pedestrians. That's fine. But, they should also apprehend the jaywalking pedestrian.
