Horn-tooters beware

BE CAREFUL when you blow your horn. You might just get a ticket and
forced
to pay a fine. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and
the
police Traffic Enforcement Group (TEG) will be apprehending motorists
who
indiscriminately blow their horn beginning Thursday. TEG head
Superintendent Luisito Maralit on Wednesday said this is part of the
MMDA's
"one violation a week" policy. Violation of the horn-tooting regulation
entails the continuous and unnecessary honking in the streets.
Motorists
should use horns only in emergency situations or face a P500 fine,
according to MMDA officials. Maralit said they would also be
apprehending
vehicles using unauthorized lighting devices like "dazzling headlights,
broken taillights, broken taillight lens, and unauthorized
rear/side/spot
white or neon lights of any color."
