Do not put your gear in neutral (or angel gear) when you are stopping or worse, when you are travelling downhill. You lose the benefit of engine brake for greater stopping power.
What you should do is to remove your foot from the accelerator, apply brake if necessary, then at the last few(~2sec) moments of stopping, when you've significantly slowed down, you press on the clutch and put the gear in neutral. Remember, the engine will not stop if you are still rolling.
Quite a challenge at first, but if you get used to it, comes out naturally.

or in other words, engine brakes. mahirap makasanayan yung nang neu-neutral kapag nagpe-preno. lalo't sa highways. walang stopping power, gumagaan pa yung sasakyan which makes it very difficult to maneuver-kasi walang traction.

Stop and go traffic, medyo mahirap kung galing ka sa automatic, pero not impossible. Just keep your left foot ready for the clutch (but don't ride it!), tsaka let the clutch engage gently (minimal to no gas pedal muna) kung gusto mong dahan-dahan lang ang abante. For prolonged stops, rest mo lang yung left foot mo sa sahig. Not sure if this applies to automatics as well, pero don't rest your right hand on the shift stick kung ayaw mong mapudpod agad yung mga gears.

jonski:
for stop and go traffic, make sure na kabisado mo na kung kelan kumakagat yung clutch without stalling the engine(the creeping effect). then slowly release, habang tinatapakan mo nang unti-unti yung accelerator.
for overtaking, yes downshift muna to the next lower gear, bago ka lumampas sa lulusutan mo. while at it, make sure you got ample of space sa nilalampasan mo...
happy motoring...

Hi Jons - u need to adjust ur gear depende sa speed mo..nung mga first days ko rin magdrive, d ko napapansin na lagi ako either 2 lang or 3 pero i noticed ubos agad ang gas ko...so kung mabilis ung takbo, pwede mo na shift sa 4 or 5 basta bottomline imatch mo ung speed sa gear...
goodluck..

ivramus : Gravedig. Probably by now, jonski knows how to drive a manual vehicle.
I hope they improve the interior a bit. The current is IMHO low-rent for the price.
