i have a friend who has a house in taiwan and sabi nya mas delikado mag drive mga taiwanese! mahilig silang bumuntot and most especially sa HIGHWAY!! siguro kaya nila un nagagawa is because of their excellent infrastructure.. pero speaking of driver discipline i think walang tatalo sa U.S

on honking naman, dun daw sa taiwan if you honk your horn malas mo kung member ng triad un nasa unahan. bababaan ka daw at babasagin mga salamin mo gamit baseball bat !

Personally, I find it hard to compare Taiwan to the Philippines. Taiwanese people are generally friendly and disciplined, Filipinos are known to be friendly too, but we sometimes lack discipline.

Here, jeeps block the intersection or stop abruptly so that they can pick up/drop passengers, not minding the flow of traffic. Buses change from one lane to the other, especially in EDSA, where they are required to stay in their own lanes. They do that because they want to get the lion's share of the passengers. Tricycle drivers/pedicabs enter a one way street the wrong way because it's a shortcut, and they feel that they can swerve their way out of oncoming traffic. Even private vehicle owners tend to break the law, they try to beat the red light, they ignore pedestrian lanes, they block the intersection if their lane is already full of vehicles, they turn left on the rightmost lane, and worst of all, some use sirens to get ahead over the rest in traffic.

It's simply because most of them can get away with everything. They either give you a sob story (ex. walang makakain pamilya ko!) when they get caught in a mess, or they try to buy their way out. Give the enforcer a couple of hundred and both of you can pretend nothing happened. Haay...
