I have a relatively new neighbor na ganyan and wala pang modo pag nakasabay ko sa kalye, pininahan pa ako minsan ng rice-boy Fortuner niya... and yes, dala ko yung old Sentra that time.

Given qualifications are more or less evened out, yes. However kung significantly obobs si Ms. Beautiful, di rin siya tatagal and will just be a salaried liability to the office at the end of the day.

Kung frontliner, malaking factor nga yung maganda but if its for backroom and skills oriented work, doesn't matter anymore.

Someone who owns a Fortuner right now cannot be considered as someone who belongs to a higher class anymore. More often than not, those Fortuners, are loaned and owned by an employee. Real deal rich people buy Benzes or Euro vehicles. Simple employees don't buy them, although they could afford one, second hand of course .. due to the long-term maintenance cost.

Oh. Beware. Social climbers have already gone into the " Subaru " level.

I don't discriminate old cars. actually, i am inspired whenever i see older cars because i am thinking that my car (a 1997 mitsubishi galant) would last longer. Some people can afford to buy brand new cars in installment but complain a lot on fuel consumption.

Cellphone is not a status symbol for me. I have 3 old Nokia CPs (N70 is the newest among them), 1 for my smart, 1 for globe and 1 for PLDT landline extension. I love these old user friendly CPs than the new touch screen ones. Mas status symbol pa nga ang clothing, makikita mo sa mga brands ng damit ng 1 tao kung rich/middle class/poor sya. but some people just don't have the taste in clothing.

That's why it's really hard to judge a person by his appearance, ika nga "don't judge a book by it's cover" kasi may mga taong simple lang manamit, just using old cars or some do not want to buy and own a car pero mansion naman ang bahay at milliones ang pera sa banko. . . . . .

One of the reasons why I prefer to live in my own hometown than in NCR, because most people know who you are and what you are. . .

one more thing why I love to live in my own province in relation to cars, pag naka-4 wheels ka, whether you are using a brand new car or an old one basta presentable pa naman ang hitsura, pare-pareho lang ang tingin sa yo ng ordinaryong tao specially those who don't know much about cars. . . Usually, ang impression, pag naka-4 wheels ka, rich ka.

I agree with you. may mga bumibili ng 2nd hand cars like late 90's model or newer pero ginagamit naman almost daily kahit medyo malakas ang fuel consumption at meron naman ibang bumibili ng brand new cars in installment tapos halos di naman gamitin (once in a blue moon/occassional) at panay pa ang reklamo sa fuel consumption even if they own a compact car or diesel AUV.

Do people discriminate against old cars?
