Honking your horn continuously will attract attention, but there's no guarantee that someone will actually come to your aid if they see that someone is threatening you with a gun.

The bad guys may or may not panic. The problem is, some hardened criminals feel they have nothing to lose, and i'm sure we've all read news articles about civilians who were shot for resisting criminals. Malas mo kung natapat ka sa kriminal na trip kang barilin dahil naingayan sa iyo. Ok siguro yung pagbusina as a distraction to help you escape, but don't count on it as a sure fire way to make a bad guy flee the scene.

My recommendation would still be awareness, avoidance and evasion.

Be aware of the things going on around you. Maintain adequate distance between other persons or vehicles so you can avoid potential trouble spots. Learn to listen to your gut instinct when it says something is wrong with a certain situation. Usually, may mga visual clues kang makukuha mula sa ibang tao bago sila mag-strike. Finally, keep yourself and your vehicle in top operating condition so that you have the capability to evade and outrun a sticky situation if you have a chance to do so.

    Stay safe, peeps.

For example, when you give a pre-agreed codeword (e.g. "DAPA!"), all passengers should crouch to the floor of the vehicle and keep their heads down while you make a tactical, high-speed getaway. Then, conduct drills or exercises every so often to so that the response to the codeword becomes second nature to your spouse/kids.

These safety drills don't have to be reserved for criminal situations only. I strongly advise having ready procedures for other emergencies like fires, attempted break-ins at home, accidents (falling from a high place or getting cut severely), etc.

Very Gud idea yan Dude Mikey...

U can also include yung Giving First Aid Treatment and how to get help ...

Sa panahon po ngayon napakahirap ng buhay...

Marami ng tao they resort to this evil actions... an easy money ordeal between Satan and the perpetuator...

Crime Rate is way too low... I think this is fair sa mga gumagawa ng kabutihan...

    Ano sa palagay nyo?

    Motorists asked: Be vigilant
    against vehicle thieves

CAR OWNERS need not fall prey to thieves.

Members of a police anti-car theft unit on Thursday revealed a simple trick to keep your car from getting stolen: Remove a small part of the car engine -- an ignition coil, safety switch or the rotor -- so that the vehicle would not start while the owner is away.

It could get messy -- tinkering with your car engine every time you park your car in a dangerous place -- but Inspector Norberto Liwag assured car owners that the trick is effective.

Liwag, head of Marikina City's anti-car theft unit, said he used to take with him the safety switch of his car wherever he went.

"This way, you can park your car anywhere, and no car thief can get it," he said.

P03 James Abesamis, a member of the unit, said the thieves would have to buy the spare part from an auto shop to get the engine running.

Besides, he added, criminals would also need to buy the exact part to match the make or model of the car.

The authorities have also come up with a few more suggestions -- now pasted on the wall of Liwag's office -- to keep car thieves and hold-up men at bay.

    They are:

    * Avoid hitchhikers, especially beautiful women.

    * Never leave your car windows open, especially during traffic jams.

    * Never stay in your car while it is parked.

    * Remove valuables inside the car before parking, so as not to tempt robbers.

    * Install an alarm system whenever possible.

    * Don't trust your car keys to strangers.

Liwag said the last part is very important. Based on his experience, Liwag said mechanics of auto repair shops are, most of the time, in cahoots with car thieves.

He said they could duplicate the car key, follow you, and strike when you least expect it.

hmm..about dun sa last part.. gumagana ba talaga ung immobilizer kapag hindi original key ang gamit?

saka pano ung safety switch? massyado yatang mahirap magtanggal ng spark plug palagi..saka masyadong obvious yata un.

I regularly see a Galant along Ybardolaza that is secured by passing some sort of cable lock through the spokes of the wheels. Effective kaya ito?

use a safety switch.. either an audio jack that is connected to a circuit in your fuel sending unit or perhaps in completing the starter... if it is not there.. the whole thing is dead.. kahit pa irekta yan using hot-wiring... or something as inconspicous as a cigarette lighter of the car... basta magisip kayo ng cutoff for the electrical or the fuel sending.... that is immobilization.. unless maglabas ka nung ginagamit ng mga wrecker na tire-lock. .bwahaha.. kaso baka yung gulong lang maiwan sa iyo.. eheehe
