I guess we all know that one of pains we have to experience whenever we take the C5 road is when we approach the C5-Kalayaan intersection especially during the rush hours of morning and night. The traffic mess in this particular area results in the waste of montrous amounts of precious fuel and manhours day in and day out, year after year and yet the MMDA, DPWH and Makati bureaucrats are in no hurry to decide and implement what might be the best solution to address this problem (cloverleaf, overpass-underpass, elevated u-turns, etc.). The government always mouths motherhood statements to the effect that the people should conserve energy and be more work-productive, but you really cannot help but be cynical when you see glaring examples such as this of how the government doesn't practice what it preaches.

Sigh... it's that friggin Bayani-Jejomar feud that gave motorists this daily traffic monstrosity.

Eto na lang ang bukod tanging may traffic lights on the whole stretch of C5 from Katipunan to SLEX.

May remedy na nga like putting a couple of u-turn slots pero ala pa din...pain in the *$$, traffic abot hanggan Tiendesitas flyover tuwing rush hours...

Its time to build some plans...

Long-term: construct a flyover and an overpass
Mid-term: Selective stop and go on stoplights, prioritize going to Makati every morning
Short-term: MAPSA and MMDA to unite...politics are cropping our *$$

I also heard that the owner of the corner lot (left-side southboud C-5) refuses to sell his property to give way to the construction of an elevated interchange.

Hopefully, Binay doesn't win a reelection so that BF can have a freehand to do whatever he wants.

The U-Turn scheme is working a bit though... traffic is a bit lighter compared before.

It looks like the landowner is influential or has a lot of money. The government is implementing the law on "imminent domain" but this fellow is fighting it out in court. I guess property values there have gone up making his legal battle worthwhile...
