May 30th, 2008 07:51 AM #25I think this message has been circulating around the net since God knows when.
Anyway, if there are serious complaints like these, you can always hire a lawyer and file a criminal case against the perpetrators since the suspected cops were identified. You can also personally go to Chief Supt. Roberto "Boysie" Rosales' office or contact him thru his office number at 521-02-09 and file a complaint. And there are these accredited human rights groups of people ready to lend a helping hand against authority abuse.
Just a simple piece of advice though every time you leave home (as my Dad always tell me): Always be ASSERTIVE, CAREFUL and ALERT. The streets are dangerous and you'll never know what trouble you'll be in whenever you're out. Always be on the look out, have your cell phone ready to call up and notify anyone immediately whenever you get the chance if something happens like this to you. According to this mail, it happened in a very busy street. Always keep in mind that there will always be witnesses in scenes like these. The corners of Taft and Vito Cruz are well-lit and full of people even in the most unGodly hour. The ATM transaction statement can also be used as evidence. If they take you to the police station, (if I am right) you will first be booked at the front desk and give you your right to have a phone call before you can be interrogated. The case will be booked with the apprehending cops' names noted. If the guy got punched to eat shabu, the
punch marks should show in the medical examination report and you can use it as evidence in court. Even his ****, er..... bowel can be used as evidence for traces of methamphetamine that can easily be examined by an accredited doctor to show that he was forced to eat it. And if you are a shabu user, will you eat your shabu instead of using it the "right" way to get you high? How stupid could these cops be to extort 200 grand only to get identified and use something the "wrong" way? And how can a smart family hand out 20 grand easily if only they know their rights and were assertive enough? They could have marked the 20 grand, handed it out to the bad cops, and went straight to General Rosales' office to apprehend them (if it really happened at MPD HQ). For sure the cash will still be in their pockets if they only have 2 minutes to get rid of it. And believe me, if they threatened you about your case being in the Fiscal's Office the next day? Accept it and grab the opportunity for IT IS the BEST WAY out of this illegal situation.
Most importantly, know your rights. Smarten up on the streets by knowing what to do legally especially when dealing with authorities. They could just be routinely doing their job. But if you happen to encounter the scalawags, it will surely repel them if you seem to be smart and assertive enough. They will probably think, "mukhang di tayo ubra dito, dun na lang tayo tumapat sa tatanga-tanga."
Before we disarm the government with these kind of abuse, let's disarm the people first who create these loopholed stories that use the net to make our people in authorities look bad.
"If you think cops are bad, try living without one."

Instead of being law enforcers, the cops now have become the number 1 violator of the laws that they are supposed to enforce. What irony . . .

5 cops in chef’s case to be transferred
MANILA, Philippines – The five Manila policemen who allegedly extorted money from a Makati hotel chef will be transferred to Mindanao.
Supt. Eleazar Matta, chief of the MPD General Assignment Section, said the policemen, who are facing charges of robbery extortion, grave threats and physical injuries, would be assigned to the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and Provincial Regional Office 9 or Zamboanga City.
The charges stemmed from a complaint of Christian Kalaw who said he was arrested on fake drug charges and fed shabu so he would test positive for drugs.
Senior Insp. Rolando Mendoza, Insp. Nelson Lagasca, SPO1 Nestor David, PO3 Wilson Gavino and PO2 Roderick Lopena, all of the District Mobile Patrol Unit (DMPU), were initially moved to the District Mobile Force.
Kalaw said in his affidavit that he was harassed by the policemen on April 9 in front of a condominium on Taft Avenue corner Vito Cruz Street after they claimed they found shabu paraphernalia in his car.
The victim resisted and was allegedly strangled and forced to eat shabu by the cops, who later demanded P200,000 for his release. Kalaw was set free after reportedly giving P20,000.
The chef’s ordeal came to light through an e-mail titled “Beware of a group of Manila cops.” The e-mail apparently reached the desk of Philippine National Police chief director Gen. Avelino Razon Jr., who immediately ordered an investigation of the incident.
Sana di matulad ng ibang kaso natatakpan kung di na flavor of the day.
