February 8th, 2013 05:39 PM #11Reyes pointed out that it will be up to the car assemblers to establish a "buy-back" program for their old models in exchange for a customer's purchase of a brand-new one.
ano naman ang magiging trade-in value ng sasakyan na di na pwede gamitin? halagang timbang nalang

Ban the ff FIRST
10 years or older PUVs (Jeepneys, tricycle, cabs, FX, buses)
10 years or older Trucks/L300 for hire
Tapos dapat kapag ginawa nang taxi ng 7 years, hinde na pwede i-switch back to private.
Now, kung MAGAWA NILA YAN NG MATINO. Then sure, take into consideration banning 10 year old and older privately owned vehicles.

Banning will not help. What other countries do is that they don't ban but give tax incentives when purchasing a new vehicle to replace their existing vehicles.
They have to be clear what they want to achieve, spur the car industry or increase tax collection. It would be hard to achieve both if there are no incentives.

If they want to spur the auto-industry:
- reduce the tax on each car sold. Cheaper cars will mean more cars sold.
- more cheaper cars means more older cars will fade out by itself faster.
- cancel the MMDA traffic coding. This is one major reason why many people own an old car, as a "coding" car.
Buhay na buhay ang BGC this evening. Bukas halos lahat ng restaurants. Sabi pa nung isang cashier...
Traffic!
