reminds me of the ortigas shootout.....

Sa gabi, that's the right thing to do. And also, switch-off din ang headlights, pa-approach ng check pt.

We all feel sorry for the victims of this unfortunate incident, especially for a the death of an innocent child. We also feel hatred for the people responsible for her death and yet in reality, what can we do?

We blame the Police for their ineptness in handling the situation, yet, we refuse to put ourselves in their position. The people they were after had the capability of killing them and were very determined to kill anybody who stops them from persuing their intent. The Police had no choice but to use extreme force in this case. They were not after Rabbits who don't shoot back.

Unfortunately for the child, her father made the wrong decision of speeding up. In this case, instinct played a part. GET THE HELL OUT AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

We also blame Poor Training. As for this, I can truly vouch that no amount of training will work when it comes to a life threatening situation.

Take our case. I am a licensed Deck Officer of Senior Rank. I have been in situations, onboard ships, where our survival depended on fast thinking and assesments. Fires, Floodings and even accidents where immediate medical attetion and evacuation was required. We do all kinds of drills and trainings for various situations and yet there are those who panic or make wrong decisions in actual events. I have seen this first hand.

Things are easier said than done. In the case of driving, when a bus or jeep or some other asshole swerves towards you, do we not also turn the steering wheel away from the other car and yet we don't see that by this action, we swerve our vehicle to the next car beside us. YET, the most common basic thing to do is to step on the brakes and let the guy pass ahead, which we don't do.

Let those in-charge judge who made a mistake and not us.

Wow, this is one case where being unable to tell one brand of car from another can KILL you ha.

I better tell the misis. She can't tell a hilander apart from a freelander.

OMG, mabuti in this case wala ako dun. Baka mapagkamalan ding revo ang ride ko!

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE) The alleged robbers were responsible for killing of a father and his daughter in a shootout with police in Parañaque City last December 5, officials said Tuesday.
In the public hearing by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad, outgoing director of the Police Highway Patrol Group, said that based on their after operation report, the suspects in the Toyota Revo fired upon the Isuzu Crosswind where Alfonso and Alyanna De Vera were on board.
"Those on board the Revo were the ones who fired shots at the police and De Vera, based on the accounts of my men," Palad told CHR chairperson Leila de Lima.
Aside from Palad, those present in the public hearing was Chief Superintendent Arturo Cacdac of the crime laboratory.
National Capital Region Police Office Director Leopoldo Bataoil is also expected to attend.
    Totoo kaya?

Lintek na report yan, according daw to the operatives, robbers ang bumaril. Natural, yun ang sasabihin nila!

There were civilian witnesses, including residents of the subdivision.
