October 17th, 2007 12:42 AM #21The Lovelife Corolla just looks smaller bec of its curves. Heto yung actual dimensions:
Dimensions in inches ("Big Body" / "Lovelife")
-Length (172 / 174)
-Width (66.3 / 66.7)
-Height (54.3 / 54.4)
-Wheelbase (97 / 97)
I agree. Marketing lang. Mas madaling ibenta kapag bigger, roomier. In time, it gets big enough na kailangan na ng ibang model to fill in the niche. Take for example yung Corolla, lumaki ng lumaki. Then, they introduced the Vios.
Yes, it is. Sa loob mas malaki ang difference kasi although hindi malaki ang difference sa overall length, cabin space is bigger. Tapos, it also helps na flat yung floor sa likod.

October 19th, 2007 12:15 AM #22just to add, the current Toyota Corolla Altis is even slightly larger than the 1993-1998 Toyota Corona EX Saloon/Exsior (same length, but wider and taller) and yet the Altis is still considered a compact.

Interior size... the Corona still feels a bit bigger inside.
By the way, the current Altis sold here is as long as a Corona because of the additional 5 inches they added (nose and rear end) to the JDM Corolla which it shares its body with. (false added length just for appearance and not for more space)
2001 JDM Corolla with the shorter nose and rear end.

October 19th, 2007 02:14 AM #25oo nga the japanese market Corolla looks shorter than the Corolla Altis released here in the Philippines, since our model is similar to the US-Spec Corolla naman
just for comparison: Corona/Corolla Altis
Length: (mm) 4530/4530
Width: (mm) 1695/1705
Height: (mm) 1410/1500
Wheelbase: (mm) 2580/2600
even the Corolla Altis' wheelbase exceeds the Corona's you're right sir, it still feels more spacious in the corona even if the numbers say otherwise. The Altis' figures are already within midsize sedan territory.

October 20th, 2007 12:32 AM #26hehe kaya im not surprised with the price of the 'compact' car reaching 1m. kasi sa size and engine displacement e parang M-class car ng 90's na. pero subcompacts reaching almost 800k e medyo unreasonable ata.
Choice I would have made as well.
