tyres: what's uni-directional & directional?

guys, ano ba ibig sabihin nito? mas ok daw yun directional na tyres kse mas longer thread life?

Directional tires means the thread pattern has been optimized to be left or right side specific. So the tires on the left side cannot be used on the right side, if you do, their performance potential will not be realized.

Directional tires doesn't mean they have a longer thread life. Usually means you'll have better grip when you are cornering or braking or accelerating.

ang alam ko dyan it means yung direction ng takbo ng gulong. not really left or right. mine kasi has an arrow sa side wall pointing to a direction. wag mo ikabit pointing backward yun dapat sa harap nakaturo. basically boils down to thread pattern.
d thing I remember is yung pag kunwari may tubig sa daan, the thread is made para lumusot yung tubig palabas sa sides or something.
that's why iba ang pag rotate ng tires pag uni gamit mo. d ka pwedeng mag cross kasi pag yung front right mo nilipat mo sa front or rear left, baligtad na takbo ng uni tires mo

Sometimes tires cannot be rotated according to popular patterns. Such tires include uni-directional tires with asymmetric tread designs.

this is taken from a website more on motorcycles pero pareha lang naman.

There are now two main reasons for directional arrows. The first being that some motorcycle tires now have tread patterns that are designed for a specific rotation for optimum performance, particularly on wet roads. Directional arrows indicate proper directional rotation. Secondly, running a tire will set up a wear pattern that may cause ride disturbance if reversed. The directional arrow insures that a tire can be re-fitted in the original direction.
