What if somebody riding in your car, say a friend, relative, or visitor, requested permission for him/her to smoke?

A friend, who I knew is a chain smoker, did this. So, I stopped, got off, and we smoked.

i smoke once in a while, but never inside anyone's car. the nicotine/tar sticks around in the upholstery as well as the smell circulates in the vents for a long period. my long drives usually consist of multiple stops for gas, food, to stretch my legs, and yosi.
