Hi Oyil, Architect. :hiya2:
Sorry, paminsan-minsan lang ako dito sa tsikot forum. I came across Oyil's posts at the SkyscraperCity forums and kinda remembered his posts here. You have an admirable grasp of the industry, but what caught my attention was your interest and aptitude for automotive design.
I've been busy the past three years designing & developing exactly the concept of a vehicle that you have been talking about, although my translation is kinda different. This is my version of the Filipino vehicle which I started conceptualizing as early as 2002. I've been "road testing" the prototype since August 2004, but I had to wait a long while because of lack of resources and lots of government red tape.
It's a style evolution from the Jeepney and the owner type because, like yourselves, I felt it was time to depart from the traditional dyip into unexplored style frontiers.
I came out in the open only last month because of three years of red tape at the IPO (trademarks & patents). As early back as 2004, I had already registered it as "FUV", but the certificate was released only last June 2006.
By the way, I am also a registered architect. The history & specs about my vehicle design and prototype are posted at www.disenyopilipino.ph, together with my contact info. I am a firm believer that the missing link in the Filipino auto industry is DESIGN.
Please refer to my past tsikot postings at
http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showt...t=14976&page=3
and you will find that we have remarkably similar views about the industry. Do let me know if and when you want to meet just to bounce ideas :juggle: and explore possibilities.

BTW, Disenyo Pilipino is a just a loose, informal association of kindred spirits. No big deal, but it would be a pleasure to have some rapport with people who speak the language of DESIGN. Rather than be divided by a common language, we should really network. What do you think?

Welcome back DPROX!
Thanks for the compliments. I have visited your website. That(chokaran) was a very well organized project, congrats.
So, having had the experience of actually building a car from design to marketing, we would appreciate any help that you can offer for this open source pinoy vehicle that we are trying to develop. For starters, what do you think of the preliminary designs?

I think it is best we try to set-up an eb among those interested - even just 3 - 5 guys - and really discuss how far we want to take this project and what approach we will take.
Let us try to find a common convenient time and place. I am based in San Juan. My schedule is fluid and availability depends on project deadlines but I am usually free Sundays except lunchtime.

March 4th, 2007 08:33 PM #178Here’s my simple design,
Drawn a while ago wala kasi magawa hehehe…
Design concept:
Affordability
Short Wheel base
Simple design yet presentable
2 doors only – cheaper to build (+ 1 sliding door can be considered)
Rear door – 2 leaf Swing door (FX type) For easier access.
Head lights: plenty of options; commercially available
Headlights from Toyota, mitsubishi, Honda, Nissan etc.
In any shape and style can be adopted.
Bumper: Molded fiber glass or other durable materials used in a normal vehicle.
Engine options: 1.3 to 1.5 liter Gasoline
1.5 to 2.0 liter Diesel
Drive train : Front (cheaper to develop than the rear drive)
Capacity : 4 to 5 (asian) passengers + driver
Vehicle Use : For family use and for Small business.
Seat type: like of those in FX, cheap but it can provide more
Interior space due to thin structure.
Back Seat : Foldable
Body Construction : Monocoque type preferred, ladder type chassis
Is also adoptable.
Passenger window : Glass sliding type.
