That seems to be an interesting design. Perhaps we can get a small group together to come up with preliminary working drawings. But we definitely need to have a qualified technical consultant who can determine the feasibility of the designs.

good. we need a mech engr. i'll continue developing the design and i will post draft sketches. how about the patent? if somebody reads this and immediately patents the idea, which came from you by the way, then we will be infringing on that patent. we also need a patent lawyer.

While I appreciate the compliment, the idea is not original. It is more of a grassroot effort from all the posters here, with a lot of information derived from previous attempts. At any rate, let us make it a la open source.
If this is project is going to take off, we should not have any excess baggage - meaning we should not have any vested interest. I will get advise from my legal counsel to see what steps should be taken.
Offhand, if we manage to make progress to the point where we need to formalize matters, I think the most suitable legal entity should be some kind of foundation - with no one individual person/party owning a significant share.
But before anything else, we DO need a qualified automotive engineer.

the idea cannot be patented..how about the application of the idea, the solution to implement the idea .

Any takers for the automotive engineer consultant role?

Actually if I remember correctly, there are several types of patent, one of which is design, which applies here. But personally I am not interested in applying for a patent since our objective is for other parties to implement it freely. The risk of someone stealing our design is practically nil since one of the requirements for patent approval is that there has been no prior art. For as long as we properly document (and date) our progress, we should be fine.

Is it possible to provide more info or details? It is quite difficult to provide constructive comments without knowing the interior, seating configuration, vehicle length, width, etc.
Perhaps you can provide more drawings - front, rear, side elevations, topview, etc. Then other members can provide feedback.

March 2nd, 2007 06:03 PM #169Ah okay. I already have someone who can do the CAD drawings. But we really need to approach this project correctly. We need to assemble the right team. Without the right people, it will be a lot more difficult, but that is not to say we can't do it. After all, we can approach non-tsikoteers for their advice. At any rate, it is worth a try. Will wait for your drawings. Good luck.
