Garapalan na po yung ibang mga "specialists" natin .. nagpapa advertise na sila (sa local daily namin) na kaya na nilang iadjust mga digital odometers ng kahit anung sasakyan kahit pa 2000 up...ano pa purpose ng pag aadjust ng odo (can't think of any other reason) kundi manloko, di po ba? Good thing may law of karma...

Never ever believe an odometer. Even if the vehicle is for sale by the owner. Minsan hindi din nila sinasadyang maging inaccurate iyan. E.g. by changing tire sizes or having the speed sensor fail and not replacing it immediately.

Or easier... by disconnecting the speed sensor... very very easy to do with a wrench, a flash light and some spare time... had to do that once on a swapped car because the dashboard didn't agree with the ECU.
EDIT: Oh, don't worry about it if you're buying a car from me... with an average of 50,000 kms per year put on our vehicles as reflected on our odometers, you can be sure our odos haven't been tampered with...Last edited by niky; December 11th, 2006 at 08:57 PM.

December 11th, 2006 08:59 PM #17Correct ka dyan.
Its still best if the car has full service records. We had bought a 2003 camry last year with 25Tkm, when we had the 30tkm check at CASA we found out that 40tkm was the last service check. They tampered the digital odometer.
Its hard to believe the odometer, usually just check the overall condition of the car including the conditions of the pedals, switches, etc.
Average consumption for cars range from 5tkm - 25tkm a year. some even higher. so sometimes its hard to base the mileage from how old the car is.

Yung kakilala ko, inalis niya yung speedo sensor on his 2.0liter sedan way back in '98. Ewan ko lang kung sinasaksak niya from time to time. The last time I saw him, nasa kanya pa yung sasakyan.

December 11th, 2006 11:53 PM #19Karamihan 'ata ng mga used car na binebenta sa mga auto exchange ay tampered na mga odo. Although mas maganda nga na hindi mo pansinin yung odo at yung condition na lang ng car ang tingnan mo, pero yung real reading ng odo still plays a big part sa pagbili ng used car.
May nabasa kasi ako b4 sa isang magazine about sa engine life ng car na kahit anong alaga daw ang gawin mo kapag umabot na sya ng 180t km, kailangan i-dispose or palitan mo na dahil sa tear and wear as well as metal components fatigue na tinatawag.
