Actually, all engines are supposed to be broken in by the factory, but waiting for the first 1000km isn't a bad idea.
One thing, though, you won't get full horsepower out of your car for at least 5000-10,000km.
C'mon, if you want to break anything, you can still do it after 1,000km and have it replaced under warranty.

tama naman ung 5000 kms break-in period ah?

Napansin ko din, if you go by the book na hinay hinay sa first 1000kms, di maganda ang engine performance.
meron ako dalawang tito. pareho revo diesel. sabay binili. na drive ko yung revo na by the book, syet na malagket mga pre, ang bagal mag pickup, kahit bagong change oil and everything.
Ang i avoid mo lang talaga e sudden stop. kung gas, go upto 4500 rpm, kung diesel, upto 3200 rpm. pero once in a while, i sagad mo din.

March 25th, 2005 04:37 PM #28when I went to the kia casa, they took out the mandatory 1K tune up/change oil, di na daw kailangan. Good for them to admit there is no need to break in. But with the other manufacturers, they still insist on the 1K break in. Look at the Innova. Meron pang kasamang note that if you must send in the car ON OR BEFORE 1,000kms no after. The oil would still be very good kasi nga 1K pa lang ang tinakbo.

March 25th, 2005 09:58 PM #30Maybe some chemicals remain during the manufacturing process that the oil change will remove from the engine?
see my pahabol statement above. i mean, i can go on vacation anytime. but my spouse has her...
