I'm inclined to keep the Rav4 for as long as it takes... 97,000 km right now and still counting.

    200,000 miles = 320,000 kilometers

I think mas applicable yan sa USA with their better roads... less stress to the suspension, drivetrain & powertrain.

Hehe. Napansin ko lang mas mataas yung average halaga nung mga car na HINDI likely umabot ng 200k. hahaha.Pero I bet yung extra oras na ginugol sa repairs at additional maintenance hindi kinompute.

Parang yun Bad bets have bigger engine than the good one! Baka dahil sa mahal ng gaso ngayon kaya naging bad bets sila. At bakit puro Honda at Toyota lang ang na sa good side? Sila ba sponsor sa survey?

Modern luxury cars have complicated electronics, which makes their ability to reach 15 years with minimal maintenance questionable.

The "good bets" are all current cars.

It's pretty simple. Repairing and maintaining a secondhand, even if it is a hassle, is always cheaper than trading in for a new car. You can lose 400-800k pesos on a trade-in, whereas 100-200k pesos, spent wisely on preventive maintenance and overhaul or replacement of old parts, can extend the life of your car another 3-5 years.

Me? Though my Mother wants to replace our 120k km Crosswind already, I've been lobbying to keep it (seems they'll go with me on this one). It's always an asset to have a back-up car.

As long as there's someone to pay the bills. The only reason our 626 got mothballed is no one wanted to pay for it (my brother and sister are cheapskates, and between my Mom and myself, we're taking care of four cars... ).

Lynx RS now at 72k kms. 3 years old in September.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
