i have a lancer mx 2002, so far very satisfied ako sa performance especially sa fuel economy (8-10 km/l city depending on traffic, 16+ km/l highway) and handling. good engine at 124 hp. pero kung ang sasakay sa likod ay parents mo, even i don't like riding at the back seats. pag hatid/sundo kasi ako ng misis ko sa airport may driver kami inupahan so sa likod kami nakasakay. matagtag. ang mx kasi ang shocks ay, and this is the mitsubishi term, "sports tuned". so matigas ang shocks and dama mo talaga ito pag nasa rear seats ka. pero it aids a lot in handling lalo na sa high speed turning and braking. ok din ang invecs II tranny, responsive naman and shifts at the right rpm if you just leave it in D.

also, keep in mind that the lancer mx 2003 has a different engine, 110 hp lang ito. maganda lang yung invecs III cvt tranny nya, more efficient.

another thing, may memory ang tranny ng lancer. so pag "sporty" ka mag-drive (assuming isa lang driver ng car), ganda ng response ng tranny. pero after may nag-drive na iba at different ang driving style nya sa iyo, or medyo lagi ka natra-trapik so mabagal lang takbo mo, kakainis kung need mo ibanat ang engine bigla. nasa 3000 rpm pa lang nag-shift na. and it takes a couple of steps on the gas pedal before the computer learns or discards its memory that you want a more aggresive style where you want the tranny to shift at say 6000 rpm. pwede mo din disconnect battery for a few minutes to erase the memory, lalo na kung dati metro manila ka lang (trapik) then punta ka sa province where you can test the car at the expressways.

but of course you can always put it in manual mode. invecs nga eh di ba.

palagay ko mabibili nyo yung altis. parents mo mag-decide eh hehehe! ride comfort priority nila for sure.

between the 2003 lancer mx and 2003 altis 1.6, altis na ako. pareho lang ng engine horsepower, 110 hp. pag altis 1.8g iba usapan na yan, hindi talo. (between 2002 mx and 2002 altis, mx ako. obvious ba hehehe.)

nissan, outmoded na features. intayin mo na lang yung new model next year.

its good to buy a sentra when its second hand..kasi mababa ang presyo.. and you get the top of the line model.. rather than a same priced toyota or honda na mas mababang model..

kung sa brand new.. from the three choices..hmmm..altis?..

check out the lynx too..ganda ng interior niyan! leather at moonroof pa.. also i like the optra too.. euro daw ang ride and
the interior is nice din.. for me..sa 1.6 class.its a toss up between these two...not the 3 you mentioned ehehe

Yung Sentra at lancer ay maglalabas na naman ng new look version....iba talaga hitsura just after a year of introducing new model....Kakainis talaga.....kabibili lang namin ng 2003 Lancer MX, may new look na agad.....nakakadala talaga! Ganun din ang Sentra/Sunny...may new shape na rin.....

Mabuti pa mag Altis 1.6G ka or Civic VTI-s .....Sigurado kang 5 yrs bago magpalit ng model...

hmmm... can't add new options to the poll... oh well...

my vote would go to the Ford Lynx RS... best bang for the buck this side of the world... for just P795,000 you get a 2.0L engine, sport seats, nardi steering wheel, and a whole lot more...

check out motioncars.com as they have a full review of the ford lynx rs...

    hehehe!

anyway, I'm a Lancer owner pero dun sa binigay na options, I'd go for the Altis or the VTi-S.

Lynx RS comes only in red. ang tagal kung nakaupo sa loob ng Lynx RS kahapon, IMHO lang interior is not that great. Probably because of the RS badge. But with its engine and other features, okay sya for its price.

nung nag plant visit kami yung Escape V6 hanggang 140kph lang!

april_ryan: we've (protegetech) been on a plant tour of ford philippines (where they are making and exporting the Escape, Lynx, Protege & Tribute), and I can assure you of the high-level of quality put into it. it's good that you're considering the RS... don't forget to join our club once you get one! if you do, you'll be the first one with a real RS to do! (i'll even give you some tips on who to avoid if they asked for a test drive... hehehe)
