In the case of BMW, others say their cars are becoming more reliable, while to some they're not. I'm also surprised that many of the less reliable cars are Volkswagen. That alone contradicts the meaning of their brand, which is "People's Car."
Nevertheless, no such various findings for Toyota and Honda. In other words, they are very dependable.

the one thing about consumer reports is that they basically assume everyone thinks cars are appliances. so, they focus on reliability, crash tests, service quality, and nothing else.
car enthusiasts care about that stuff, but they also care about the driving experience, performance, and aesthetics. therefore, CR should only be one of many sources that people should use when evaluating a car purchase.

like C&D's long-term Jag XJ, they've acknowledged that it spent quite sometime being serviced but it was still the preferred long-distance hauler among their staff.
maybe they should also look at the demographics & driving-styles of the said "consumers". maybe some of them are the ones who floors the gas & turn the airconditioner to full a second after starting the engine? or the ones who use those funky additives like motor-up? or the ones who skip PMS? or the ones who use low octane fuel?

Mas maganda kung mga long term reports from testers talaga, who follow maintenance schedules and proper usage.

i would say the answer is, use both.
btw, to mazdamazda's point, US drivers really abuse and neglect their cars...automakers really need to build to the lowest common denominator to be successful in this market
