The Mustang was already popular even before the first Gone in 60 movie.

Maybe to the younger set, Nicolas Cage's flick was the first time they saw a 'Stang in action. And coming from a generation raised on hot-rod Hondas and force fed inline-4's, a Muscle Car bordered on blasphemous to them.

But there is a certain charm about Vintage Cars (or else I wouldn't have joined the local Vintage club). Much more with Vintage Muscle Cars. Euro cars have their own charm, that's true. So I guess you just go with whatever floats your boat.

If it's just a regular Mustang and not a GT350 or GT500 then the BMW E30 M3 may be a better choice. The BMW E30 M3 was a limited production model and from 7/85 to 7/89 only 18,204 were produced. Even if you convert the Mustang to a "Eleanor" it will still not have the value of the E30 M3 in the future because it's not an original GT500. Just an FYI a 1988 E30 M3 is still going for up to $23K and average is $13K here in the US.

Is the Parts of the mustang genuine/original parts or just aftermarket reproduction of the original you have to keep this in mind. BMW M3 will become a collectable in sometime, so for me, I'd stick with the BMW. Not unless it's a Mustang shelby gt 350 or gt 500 then I'd go with the trade.

hehe, kayo naman....2 years nang napalitan yung M3 ni woodfire. i hope he's enjoying his Mustang.

i too would have stuck with the M3 - near-supercar performance during its day, and even now it's a fun drive - but i can understand the allure of the classic Mustang, especially if you grew up lusting after these cars in the 60's...

Maybe we can ask Flagg about his view on the subject since he owns a Musclecar and a BMW.

For me, I will take an Eleonor anytime over a Porsche 911 Turbo. I don't own an M3, but a 911 Turbo is surley much better than an M3.

Just my view, since I can talk about Porsche and Mustang because I have both of them.

Who cares about driving a Mustang fast in a curve. We drive it moderately in populated areas. Sort of an "EGO TRIP". People, even kids are always looking and pointing at you.

The 911 Turbo may be better but it was not limited in production like the 1st gen M3. If it was not a 1st gen M3 then I would take the Mustang even a 289ci version. BTW Turbo how much do you sell your Mustangs similar to a 289ci model? I know there are better models but the 289 is what I have always wanted.

same sentiments as Redorange. the E30 is a real M3 whilst the mustang is just a regular mustang albeit a vintage/classic one. if the E30 were a regular E30 then it would be no contest.

Sorry, but my 911 Turbo is a "Special Wish" division Porsche. It is was assembled in a different assembly line from the rest of the pack. ButI just lost interest in the car. Too complicated and very expensive parts. So kung limited ang M3, mas mahal pa ang parts and parts will be hard to find, assuming ang mga parts are deicated to the M3 alone.

    289? I don't have a 289 engine, my smallest displacement Mustang is a 351W, the biggest a Supercharged 460(7.6 liter).

It might be a regular Mustang but I'd rather have it anytime of the year. easy to maintain. hinihingi lang namin ang parts. Pwede mong gawin kahit nasa gitna ka ng bukid pag nasira. Simple engineering, basic car.
