galant gti ang dream car noong '90s kaya lang kulang ang pera kong pambili kaya lancer EL lang nabili ko nung panahon na yun.
btw, the galant gti was considered one of the most significant car from the past 25 years according to an article in the philippine daily inquirer.

Hard? 90's cars? Are you kidding? Any 70's to 90's compact crumples like a softdrink can when hit by a larger vehicle... anybody remember the Sentra hit by that Pasvil bus? Absolutely flat.
New cars may have "soft" panels, but they're strong... the driver of that Jazz didn't survive the bus impact, but the car was mostly whole after the hit... if it were an older car, they'd be scraping the victim off the seat with a spatula.

The biggest difference between 90's and 21st Century car culture... the size... the Lancer GT-A is indeed a Galant GTi of the 21st century... same weight, almost exactly the same dimensions (the Galant is slightly wider), same sporty 2.0 (GT-A has about 10 more hp) and same good looks.
The "compacts" of today are the "subcompacts", really... the Fiesta, Jazz/City, Accent, Vios/Yaris, Aveo and Mazda2 are fighting the same battle that the Civic/Corolla/Sentra/Lancer fought back in the early 90's.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I generally have the same observations as Niky (was the flattened B13 Sentra you're referring to the one driven by the ADB expat? I recall an incident like that).
In terms of size and power, the Corollas/Civics/Lancers of today were the Coronas/Accords/Galants of the 90s.
The Vios/City today are actually similar to the AE92 and EG Civics in the same aspect.
"Twin Cam, 16 Valve" and "Super Saloon/SE Saloon/Limited Edition" was the rave.
In the mid 90's, everyone was buying black VTEC EK Civics and slapping on 17" Rota Tuners on them.
In the 90's, it was cool to be drag racing in Libis and White Plains (paging GH )... now its cool to be on the track or on the strip.
In the 90's, basta palakasan ng makina (V8 Expeds and Suburbans were the rave). Today, pataasan ng km/L. :D
Some things i liked from the 90's,:
- More cars had glass headlights versus the plastics we see in all cars nowadays.
- OEM parts were made in Japan and not Thailand.Last edited by vinj; March 23rd, 2011 at 02:07 PM.

I prefer the simpler designs of the 90's cars.
21st century cars look over-styled and bloated.
Design trends:
- high belt lines
- headlights that stretch all the way to the A-pillar.
- fancy character lines
- big-mouth grilles
- fender bulges
It's as if the car culture is being influenced by Japanese anime.Last edited by donbuggy; March 23rd, 2011 at 02:14 PM.

Some to point of sacrificing the vehicles all-around visibility, leaving newbie drivers half blind. Some even Funny looking... hehehe
Yeah a Galant Gti, ganda rin nun especially if you have a 4g63-tc under its bonnet though not sold locally.
Price wise at 800-900K today you can get well equipped sedan, back then that would be an early 90's 4x4 SUV.
that may be, but we all got plastic, young and old. we asked the lto guy, "papel ba po, o...
