Russia isn't poor in a similar way that the Philippines isn't poor. I.e. lots of rich ass people centered in one area, mid-high income per capita (in relative terms) but it's distributed very unevenly.

Russia as a nation isn't poor. They are mostly kept afloat by the sale of weapons / arms to China and other left-leaning nations.

But the condition of the common people of Russia isn't that far from us. Their Income per Capita is around $1,700 (ours is around $900).
