I just did a test drive of the "new" Ford Ranger 4X2 and 4x4 versions at the Fort this afternoon. The ride was surprisingly smooth, not much engine vibration, acceleration pretty quick for a diesel and interior finish about par with an entry to midlevel sedan.

Kinda weird though, the 4X2 model is heavier than the 4X4 model but the 4X2 lacks the 4wheel drive system. Plus side, the 4X2 accelerates faster than the 4x4 model even if the 4x4 model is in 2H mode (two wheel drive & high speed gear). I guess its due to less tranny drag.

Only available in manual tranny.
